You are bidding on about 25 POWHATAN CREPE MYRTLE SEEDS - Lagerstroemia indica 'Powhatan' .( see my other crepe myrtle varieties )Maturing to 20 ft tall with a 15 ft+ canopy, it is one of the new cold hardy, disease resistant, with 6-8" long inflorescences (panicles) of medium pink flowers to violet- purple flowers from mid-summer to early fall. Slightly lighter purple than Catawba, but much darker than Apalachee. Features dark green foliage (bronze tinged when young) turning dull orange to dark red in fall .Fall color ranges from orange to red, and smooth grey to reddish-brown bark is attractive year round. In the South, this cultivar can easily be grown as a woody shrub or small tree with a maximum size of 11' tall and 11' wide , smaller in the north . Zone: 6-9 Height: 11 feet Spread: 11 feet Bloom Time: July to September Medicinal use of Crepe Myrtle: The stem bark is febrifuge, stimulant and styptic. The bark, flowers and leaves are considered to be hydrogogue and a drastic purgative. A paste of the flowers is applied externally to cuts and wounds. The root is astringent, detoxicant and diuretic. A decoction of the flowers is used in the treatment of colds. Other uses of Crepe Myrtle: Wood - hard. A useful timber.
