Note: These cannot tolerate freezing temperatures. If you're placing an order for delivery to a location with risk of freezing, shipping will be at your own risk. Cannot ship to Alaska, Hawaii or outside of continental US. You are bidding on Fifteen (15) or more approximately 7 inch long (some will be longer!) cuttings (no roots developed, shipped without soil) of Portulacaria afra 'cork bark' .This variety has a growth habit very similar to the typical Dwarf Jade, but is unique in that it develops a deep and craggy fissured "bark", which makes it especially desirable for bonsai. Photo shows parent tree with incredibly craggy texture! I pack the box pretty full so you’ll definitely get many cuttings. This particular variety is quite rare and difficult to find. New growth appears no different than typical P. afra, but over the course of 4-7 years (depending on speed of growth), the flaky bark texture develops. Early signs of flaking can usually be seen within a year or two. Your cuttings will be relatively straight, but may have slight curvature and/or changes of direction. These take well to typical pruning and wiring techniques. Treat as normal P. Afra. Rooting Instructions Your cuttings will not have roots, but growing roots is very easy. Simply place in dry cactus soil and place in warm environment with indirect light. Keep the plants very, very dry for about a week or two, and then begin to water *very lightly*, such that the soil dries within a day. After a few weeks of this, roots will grow and new leaves will begin to form. As long as you don't water too heavily, success rate with growing roots is >90%. Once rooted, continue to keep the tree on the drier side until full vigor. At that point, they take watering pretty well. Contact me if you have issues and I can help you out. Selection and Shipping Your cuttings will be cut, packaged, and shipped without soil within a day to ensure you receive these as quickly as possible. Shipping will be shipped USPS First Class in a box to ensure minimal damage. Some leaf loss is possible, and it's okay to see some leaf shriveling before or shortly after planting. Let me know if you have any questions.
