Tree Peony, Paeonia suffruticosa, Seeds Large Showy Flowers, Attracts Butterflies, Long Lived, Cold and Heat Tolerant The Tree Peony, native to western China, Bhutan and Tibet, is a deciduous, woody shrub that typically grows 3 to 5 feet tall with a 4 foot spread. Large flowers, 6 to 8 inches across, with pink to white petals, bloom in early spring. Flowers are extremely showy and are excellent as cut flowers. Medium green foliage is deeply divided into oval to lance-shaped leaflets and remains attractive throughout the growing season either alone or backdrop for other flowering plants.
